ABOUT OZONE (O3), OZONIFICATION

- It has a specific smell and can be felt by most of the people at an extremely low concentration (0.02ppm/volume). Is relatively soluble in the water, the solubility depending on the water temperature.

- Ozonification development as a curent practice in treating the drinkable water has developed mainly due to the noxious products resulted after the chlorination.

- The ozone is the second powerfull oxidant after the fluor spar.

- Its oxidation potential and solubility makes it a very good water disinfectant and antipollutant. Its strong reactivity makes it a stronger oxidant than the chloramide in the fight with the bacteria, the fungus and other parasite organisms. The ozone is relatively inofensive if is used in a responsible way.

- The ozone usage is sufficiently safe for the environment, and that is why it became used on a wide scale for water purification, its usage being extended to the aquariums or underwater gardens too.

- The ozone oxidates the proteic products, this way reducing the organic composite from the aquatic environment.
